St Matthew’s Church, Morley

A group of ASD members visited St Matthew’s Church, Morley on 25th September 2024. We learned about their Heritage Fund project to conserve four celebrated medieval stained-glass windows, which came to the church from Dale Abbey at the time of the dissolution of the monasteries.
Jim Budd, expert glazier, talked to us about his conservation work, and church archivist Sheila Randall gave us a tour of the church with its many interesting historic features. It is hoped that the work will be completed by May 2025.
